Time, if you happen to believe in this man-created concept, flies fast. I can’t believe that I’m already in my second semester in Japan, that over a half of my year abroad is gone. And while I haven’t been documenting it as much as I originally planned (due to technical difficulties and my laziness to message the support team who immediately solved everything), with the nice weather I’ve regained my inspiration.

A few months. So long, yet so short. So much has happened (iykyk),yet you feel like it wasn’t enough. Especially during a year abroad, such a limited period of time, one-in-a-lifetime chance that everyone wants to use to its fullest potential. Whether it’s travelling, studying, gaining independence, anything else or all of above (which, I’m afraid, might not be possible, unless you wanna go insane, but to each their own). Maybe it’s about priorities and maybe about balance. Though, I’ve learnt, priorities can and maybe even should change, since the year abroad is about growing. And as you grow, you change, right? Oh, where’s the Sakura, you’re asking? Sorry, I’ll shut up then.

I was SO excited when upon a close inspection of the blossoms mid-March. I could tell that only a few weeks or maybe even days, and my basic dream of seeing cherry blossoms in full bloom would come true. My “fitness” also benefitted from it, as with my growing excitement, I’d take a good number of walks around the city. And you know, one might say that sakuras are overrated, but my experience was magical. As I saw students in their uniforms under the trees, as the wind was gently blowing off the light pink petals, I got transported to the first scene of Your lie in April and for the first time I felt like I really was in Japan (about damn time).

Maybe it was the good weather, we’ll never know, but all of sudden I felt the motivation I’d been lacking the previous month (gloomy Slovak winter perhaps?) and I decided to make a radical decision and start looking for a part-time job. And since my goals for this semester are rather practical – to get some more work experience and improve my Japanese, especially speaking, I decided to give up on teaching English and rather try something different where I could use the language. And I was lucky enough to find something quite interesting. For those of you (if anyone’s reading, lol) who don’t know, I enjoy baking. And I found an ad for a local bakery that’s about 10 minute walk from where I live. So I applied! Yeah, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and take the first step. And then everything else will fall into place. (Okay, but who’s this optimist and who let her in?!) But it did work out and despite being a foreigner, which I thought could be a problem, I got a reply. Fortunately, people around me were nice enough to help me with the admin (bribing with cookies works) and I got in! …and that’s when I found out I’d have to wake up at 3am for it. xD But, you know, there’s some charm to looking for the correct type of flour for the certain type of bread, trying to compare the kanji which you still don’t remember and not having any idea about what’s going on, at 4:16am. Or maybe I’m just weird; either way, it’s exciting!

So yes, it’s springtime, a new season, time to bloom, everyone~ (Have I always been this cheesy?)
