I’m not a very spontaneous person. But every now and again, I feel like I need to do something without overly planning – welcome to the planned spontaneity!

A few weeks ago, after half a year of living in Spain, I finally bought a ticket for public transport. That naturally means that now I feel like I need to use it to its fullest potential – after all, I paid for it and the time is running. So I was looking at the places that are covered by the ticket and saw a picture with a nice building in it. Behold, planned spontaneity time!

So I told my friend (I’ve finally made friends in Barcelona!) about this idea, and she being a *naturally spontaneous* person, was absolutely down. We found a day that we were both free (actually, not really, I kinda made her take a day off on that day, but psst) and took a train to the town of Manresa with a nice building somewhere in it.

And what a train ride it was! We were so happy that we got a seat, but later we reconsidered our happiness when a person that probably hasn’t washed in a while, decided to take a nap in the aisle right beside us. He was basically touching us. I was not very comfortable, but we couldn’t really escape because the train was packed. The moment it emptied out, we changed the seat and that’s when the nice part of the trip starts. Playing random games, looking at the beautiful mountains around, with the warm sun coming through the window, it was a perfect lazy afternoon.

We arrived in Manresa and set out on a quest to find the nice building from the picture… which didn’t take long because as soon as we got out of the train station, we could see a really nice cathedral. And, as we got closer, we saw even nicer blooming trees! I LOVE blooming trees, just have a look at my Instagram. Aaand! There was playground. With a seesaw (is it called so because you see and then you don’t anymore but you saw??). and you know what two grown up women on their spontaneous trip do when they see and seesaw? That’s right, they have to try it. It’s still fun. Honestly, possibly even more than when I was a kid because now it’s a bit more special.

But then our friendship got tested. I don’t know when it happened but I stepped into a fresh chewing gum. And my friend willingly (!) tried to get it out of my shoe using a stick. Something that I was even considering not to do myself. Some people are built different.

Once we got most of it out, we continued our adventure and explored the town, talked and walked and it was really nice. We didn’t have things planned, but we didn’t need to, because the train ride was covered by the seasonal ticket, so even just seeing one nice building and walking around somewhere new was enough and frankly, exactly what I needed after a week of being ill at home.
